Why You Shouldn’t Spray Water on you HVAC

Very high ambient temperatures cause excessive stress on HVAC units and may result in them tripping offline. A common fix we see operations managers deploy to mitigate this problem is to point sprinklers or misters directly at their HVAC coils to keep their units up and running.

While this may be an effective short-term solution, the long-term effects of doing this (especially for more than a few hours) can be very costly. Untreated water contains minerals; when this water is sprayed directly into the condenser section of your HVAC it will cause scale and corrosion to build up on your condenser coils. This corrosion will significantly reduce the useful life of your HVAC coils and require much more frequent maintenance & coil cleanings in order to ensure continued operation.  If left untreated, you may have to replace your coils each year.

The Peak+ Solution deploys  a water treatment kit and a filter screen to achieve higher effectiveness than a sprinkler/mister.  Additionally, water does not transfer to your HVAC’s condenser coils thereby helping extend (rather than degrade) the life of your HVAC.
